Math Department Overview

Our basic rules:

1.        Be Prompt:  Be in your desk when the bell rings

2.       Be Prepared:  Come to class with paper, pencil, calculator, textbook and notebook

3.       Be Respectful:  Don’t keep the teacher from teaching or other kids from learning

Grading Scale:

1.       Homework, generally assigned daily, make up 10% of your total grade.

2.       Quizzes, given weekly, make up 30% of your grade.

3.       Tests, given for each chapter, make up 60% of your grade.

4.       Final Exam, given at the end of the course, is worth 20% of your entire grade.

Ways to earn additional points:

1.       You will have 7 days to retake a chapter test, as long as all homework for that chapter is turned in and you have gone over test corrections with a teacher.

2.       Bathroom passes not used by the end of the year turn into percentage points on the final exam.

Ways to lose points:

1.       Having more than three tardies will affect grade.

2.       Homework for any chapter is no longer accepted once the chapter test is taken.

Ways to help you succeed:

1.       Take responsibility for your own learning! This means paying attention, doing your homework, asking questions, and putting forth effort!

2.       Come in for extra help!  Find time to meet with your teacher, tutor, or reliable friend to help you better understand the material.

3.       Be at school.  Excess absences can hurt your chances of succeeding.  If you are absent, be sure to get the notes from a peer and catch up on the missing homework.  (We are hoping to post all homework on our website.)

4.       Keep a positive attitude.  You can do it!

KNOW THE CODE!!!

You will be asked to bring in proof that you have looked at your power school grade every two weeks.
