Linear Graph Proficiency

The Mathematics Department is under new pressures due to state-mandated changes.  As a result, students are expected to come into math classes with certain information already mastered.  An example of this is linear graph proficiency.  In non-math-speak, that means that we now need to just expect students in our algebra 2 classesto  already know how to graph lines in any form, rather than take the time to re-teach this concept.  We have already given one assesment on lines and will be giving a re-take in a couple of weeks for students to try to pass again if necessary.

Here are some practice problems which can give you an idea of what students need to know.

Linear Graph Proficiency

In other words, this is what you have to know:

Graph each of the following:
y=2 or x= -5

y=x                 y= 1/2 x

y= -3x+4               y=2/3 x - 1

2x - 4y = 8                  2x - 4y = 5

One more thing!

Find the equation of the line that goes through the points (-2, 4) and (-1, 6)

The textbook is a great resource, as is classzone.com, which has online help for our algebra 2 book.
